Schneider Sets New Franchise Record for Wins (Mentors)
Mar. 28, 2010

Cory Schneider has trained with GCG Consultant Brian Daccord for many years.

Manitoba Moose netminder Cory Schneider has broken so many club records in his three years with the AHL team nobody even noticed the past week when he broke a couple more.

The Moose announced Wednesday morning that with his 29th win of the season last Sunday -- a 4-0 shutout over the Grand Rapids Griffins -- Schneider set a new franchise record for wins in a season.

He has since added a 30th victory, recorded Tuesday night at the Schneider could have picked up his 31st win of the season Wednesday night in the rematch with Hamilton, but he had an off night -- as did the entire Moose team -- and got hung with his 22nd loss of the year in a 7-1 loss. Schneider set the franchise wins record last season in a year that saw him named AHL goaltender of the year.

Schneider now also owns the new team record for most minutes played in a season by a Moose goaltender with 3,088. The old record was 2,945 set by Fred Brathwaite back in 1996-97.

So, is this just another example of the Moose taking their stalwart goaltender for granted? Schneider just laughed when asked about it this morning.

"I didn't know I'd broken it either," Schneider said following his team's pre-game skate. "I don't think they take me for granted at all. I just go about my business and do what I'm supposed to do. They've put me in the position to succeed and I'm making the most of that opportunity. If anything, I owe them."
